Our Litter
Birth to 8 Weeks
So much happens from birth to 8 weeks!
We are taking every possible measure to ensure our momma dog is well-prepared for giving birth. The gestation period for females is approximately 63 days. To ensure a positive birthing experience, we feed her high-quality food and Nuvet supplements, maintain light exercise, and familiarize her with her surroundings. This creates a comfortable and safe environment for delivering her puppies. On the big day, we stand by her side, ensuring a safe and healthy delivery. Although interventions are rarely necessary, we are prepared to step in if needed. Each puppy is weighed at birth to monitor their progress closely during the first week.
The eagerly awaited day arrives when the pups are born! Puppies are born with closed ears and eyes, navigating their world through touch and smell. They cannot yet bear weight on their legs, relying on pushing and scooting to move around. The initial weeks are dedicated to eating and sleeping, with mom caring for them through feeding and cleaning. We focus on ensuring each puppy is eating and gaining weight. Early neurological stimulation and scent introduction are initiated from day 3 to 16.
More about ENS and ESI?
Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) is part of Puppy Culture, a training program we incorporate for multiple benefits, including improved cardiovascular performance, stronger heartbeats, adrenal glands, stress tolerance, and disease resistance.
All puppies' eyes and ears are open. They start using their back legs more, attempting to walk. Personalities emerge, and they interact with each other. Puppy pads are introduced, and common household sounds become familiar.
Puppies reveal their personalities, walking and climbing with increased leg strength. Socialization begins, with puppies becoming aware of each other and people. Potty training starts with the introduction of puppy pads and a litter box. Interaction with small toys begins, and deworming is conducted.
Pups start weaning from their mom, nursing three to four times a day, and wet food is introduced. Outdoor exposure aids in potty training and exploration. They move to a larger area, becoming more independent.
Puppies continue to eat and sleep, gaining more muscle strength in their legs. Towards the end of the week, some puppies begin opening their eyes and reacting to sounds as their ears open.
Puppies experience various stimuli, including new toys, surfaces, sounds, tastes, and people. Socialization intensifies, and training progresses. Outdoor exploration includes the introduction of a doggy door, car rides, and crate training.
Puppies grow stronger, explore a wider yard area, and learn to use the doggy door efficiently. Training includes sitting for food or attention. Socialization continues with new sounds, toys, and obstacles.
Preparations for meeting forever families intensify. The third round of deworming and the first vaccinations are administered. Crate training continues, and socialization with visitors persists. A final bath is given before the puppies bid farewell to become cherished members of loving families. Although farewells are bittersweet, we eagerly await updates and follow their adventures on social media.
